In grape cultivation the appropriate nutrient supply is significant to produce not only a great quantity, but a good quality of products. Among nourishing elements potassium plays a stressed role, for K demand of grapes - like that of every sugar-producing plant - is high.

Potassium plays an important role in protein synthesis, regulating the processes of carbohydrates and enzymes; it increases the yield, colouring of the sprouts and the sugar content of the stum. Magnesium has significance in chlorophyll production, during lack of it photosynthesis decreases. The lack can appear in acid soil, but it can be induced by the presence of much K, Ca and  Mn. Mg is a very mobile element, it goes towards the main vein and the lack of it causes necrosis among veins (green stripe), and bunch stalk paralysis occurring in the time of sprouting the bunches. Among micro elements iron (Fe) as basic element of chlorophyll is especially necessary for grapes to develop well. A typical symptom of Fe insufficiency is the chlorosis; the places between veins of the leaves loose colour, they become yellow, while the veins first stay green, in serious cases leaves become totally white and nervation of leaves does not differ from the colour of the parts of leaf blade.

Boron as an essential micro element plays a significant role in forming stem and cell walls, nutrient uptake; it influences pollination, binding and yield. Because of boron insufficiency the efficiency of pollination of the flowers declines, binding of the flowers is not right, moreover flowers often drop due to which small bunches grow.
